How to add Block Storage (additional storage) to an Existing Windows Server

If your windows installation is not showing the right amount of disk size, please follow the instruction below :

  • Log in to your Windows instance using Remote Desktop
  • Run - diskmgmt.msc and press Enter. The Disk Management utility opens.
  • Next to Disk1 - Right-click on the partition.
  • New Simple Volume
  • Follow on screen insturction.
  • Set and add more size to your target partition and click "Next" to continue. Generally, you specify the maximum available space
  • Assign Drive letter.
  • On the next page, Format the volume. It is recommended to use NTFS.
  • You can name the volume to any thing or keep default.
  • Click "Finish" to complete the process.
